When we were in Italy on our honeymoon, we loved the Italian cappuccinos.  We were convinced that we needed to make a $2,000 investment in an espresso machine when we got home.  When we made it to our stay in the Tuscan countryside, we stayed at a bed and breakfast and were served delicious espresso in a simple, classic espresso maker.  It cost about $40 at Williams-Sonoma... worth every penny.

Italian Cappuccino

Fill water to fill line inside the base of espresso pot.  Insert the basket and spoon in 8 tablespoons of ground espresso.  Pack it down with the base of a glass.  Screw on the top of pot.  Put it on the stove over a high heat for about 10 minutes until the top is full.  Remove from heat.

Frothed Milk

In your coffee cup, put 1/2 cup of milk in the microwave for 1 minute.  When it comes out, froth the milk with a small whisk or micro-frother (also can be found at Williams-Sonoma for $15).

Pour espresso into the frothed milk.

Serve it with the homemade donuts... get the homemade donuts recipe here.
